Nick Cummins explores Far North Queensland in second episode of ‘Meanwhile in Australia’

National Geographic presents the second episode of Meanwhile In Australia with Nick Cummins, premiering.

Meanwhile in Australia in on the surface a travel documentary, but beneath that lies a purpose that goes beyond a simple, but visually stunning, journey and digs into heart of Australian culture and what it means to be human.

After experiencing the far south of Australia in episode one, Nick now sets his sights on Far North Queensland.

The one-hour special event program follows Nick on a road trip along the top end of Australia from the Whitsundays to Cape Tribulation.

Continuing his Australian odyssey, Nick Cummins wakes with the sunrise on what must be the world’s most stunning seaside vista - Whitehaven Beach.

If you’re Australian, this is your backyard but count yourself lucky because it just might be the most beautiful backyard in the world. Welcome to Queensland!

With this stunning location as a starting point, Nick will head north, following the coast, exploring shipwrecks, marine reserves, sugar plantations, banana plantations, the Daintree Rainforest and finally Lizard Island.

It is a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world but Nick is not just here for the pretty views, he is continuing his mission to define the place through the melting together of its landscape and the people that inhabit it.

Meanwhile In Australia with Nick Cummins premiers December 9 at 8.30pm AEDT. (Foxtel, Fetch and the National Geographic App).
